31 Day Challenge!

Hey everyone! I know that I haven't posted anything in a while and there's a reason for that! I am going to take on Marion Smith's 31 day challenge in January. If you don't know who Marion Smith is, she is the crafter that I follow the most. She does everything from craft, painting, papercraft etc. She is on youtube, has a blog and even does a live ustream show twice a week.

Here is the challenge. We must post a video everyday of January that is not prerecorded. Each day you must have a different goal or task you want to accomplish. These can be craft videos or even cleaning out your cabinets (but really who wants to watch that?) I'm so excited! I have made a list of cool things to do each day and I'm really hoping I can stick with it. Is there a prize you ask? Of course there is. Marion, who started out as a craft blogger, is about to launch a book, DVD and a whole line and the winner gets it all. Aside from my mom, she is my biggest crafting mentor and I can only imagine how awesome her stuff will be. Please check in throughout the month of January and see what I've been up to.

Ok, ok, I'll give you a few things on my list:
Mod Podge my shoes,
Mix media canvas painting
Valentines
Cupcakes
covering an old chair
planning my 30th birthday
There's so much more but you'll have to tune in to see it all. See you all in the New Year!

My First Mini Album - Disneyland 2010

This is my first mini album that I made over 6 months ago. I happened to record it with the hopes that I would one day start a blog such as this. I really tried to test out all the different techniques I had learned up until then on each page while experimenting with my cricut machine. I learned a few lessons but in the end I really think it turned out well. This particular video is not a tutorial but more of an inspiration. Let me know what you think and if there are any techniques that you would like to learn from the book. Enjoy!

It's All About the Tutorial

Testing, 1-2-3! Well, here is my first post. My name is Shannon. I'm a wife, a mother and my head is constantly exploding with creative ideas. What's your hobby you say? Where do I begin? I've dabbled in photography, painting, ceramics, book making, welding, carpentry, baking and most recently and more passionately paper craft. While I may seem like a closet  Cathy and Steve, this blog is mostly dedicated to paper craft. So much of what I have learned has come from (I hate to admit) hours of youtube watching. When I create a mini album or card set, so many people are wildly impressed. I can't help to think that it's not that I'm crazy talented but that they don't know how easy the steps are. Well, here is my effort to show everyone the things I have created, not forgetting to give credit to my youtube mentours, while also showing the simple steps so that everyone can feel inspired to try something new on their own. Most people approach crafting with a similar phrase "I'm not creative so I can't do that stuff". Yes, you can! You just need someone to walk you through the steps. On this blog I will show you finished projects to inspire you and also post mini tutorials on various techniques that I use. I hope you enjoy and if you have any suggestions for videos you would like to see me post, please let me know!
